FULL BASE COURSE
If you have taken the decision of coming into contact with the fascinating world of BASE jumping, this course will give you an optimal theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to realize your progress into the dream. The main purpose of this course is to give to the student the right knowledge necessary to BASE jump in various scenery in total autonomy and safety. The course is done in each phase with maximum one instructor every four students. The full BASE course (FBC) requires averagely 9 days to be accomplished and included the possibility of operating in different places on national and international territory.
Minimum 200 skydive jumps
To have your own BASE Rig material or Rent a rig
Helmet, kneepads, and trekking boots or proper shoes
Being of adequate psycho physical frame
Tools to pack your parachute.
Will of learn, safetly, having fun, in total accordance with the ethics that regulate the international community of BASE jumpers
The first phase takes into details all the theoretical aspects of the discipline, which every well prepared BASE jumper must know, including:
-Ethics and standards of conduct
-Main differences with skydiving
-Specific materials (rig, canopy, etc.)
-Flying canopy techniques and fly in mountain environments
-Exit, free fall, and track technics
-Analysis of principal malfunctions and how to solve them
-Meteorology applied to BASE jumping
-Management of eventual accidents
-Packing, configuration, maintenance
It will be taught all the current techniques of packing the BASE parachute without slider (slider off/slider down), and the reconfiguration applied to the terminal jumps that required the use of the slider (slider up)
The first part of the course is mainly about practice, it involves the first jumps from a bridge* where is not used the slider during the opening of the parachute (slider off/slider down)
- Evaluation of the spot from which will be carried on the initial jumps
- Practical tests through simulator (pendulator) of the correct exit procedure in relative wind zero.
- First jumps in PCA mode (PCA pilot chute assist)
- Introduction, vision and practice of HH mode jumps (HH hand held) in which the pilotchute is kept in the hand.
- First HH mode jumps
- Canopy piloting exercises in limited aerial spaces, management off heading opening and how to solve them
-- Multi-way jumps with other BASE jumpers simultaneously
On each jump there will be a briefing (before jump) and a debriefing (after) which include a video of the jump, sided by the instructor evaluation on an individual basis, and following advises and work to correct mistake and/or imperfections
Once the practical phase of jumping from the bridge without slider is passed successfully, it will be introduced the second step which includes terminal jumping from the mountain wall.
*In this phase of the course, Brento BASE School, uses two structures perfectly suitable for jumping without slider, due to the optimal altitude, the absence of aerial obstacles, and large landing space.
All the technical procedures treated and learned during the first phase are applicable from these spots
This phase of the course develops everything regarding the execution of terminal jumps (more than 8 seconds of free fall), which includes the use of the slider during the deployment (slider up).
-Evaluation of the spot and the exit from where the first jumps will be carried on**
-Initial “Stowed”jumps in slider up mode.
-Detailed BASE canopy piloting exercises in limited aerial spaces, management off heading openings and how to solve possible malfunctions
-Canopy fly in a mountain environment
-Improvements of track techniques
At the end of the course will be discuss individually with the instructor the plan progression of each student, including the possibility of a post course training, based on individual goals that the student wants to achieve.
**Terminal jumps in which is used the slider(slider up) are executed from the Brento mountain, in Trentino (North Italy)
This mountain is internationally renowned in the BASE circuit, it is a unique location for Initials terminal jumps, one of the most overhanging walls in Europe and in the world with its 1200 meters (4000 feet) of altitude and more then 400 meters (1350 feet) of overhanging
